About Us

REACT is a small charity based in Stevenage which aims to assist disabled people in various aspects of their lives. The charity was first set up in 1991 to discuss the needs of disabled people and developed into a registered charity, run by a committee of trustees, providing services through two staff members and a small team of volunteers, all of whom have a disability or personal experience of it.

A principal activity is applying our knowledge and empathy with disabled people to assisting benefit seekers with their applications, and following them up with help at tribunals when needed. Our Services link gives more details on what services we aim to provide.

Funding

A vital element of core funding is provided by Hertfordshire County Council. The greater part of our finance has been met in past years by grants from major funders such as Comic Relief or the Community Fund. No such funding is currently provided, so we are urgently seeking new grants and using other fundraising methods, to enable us to continue and further develop our activities
